SOO1 Predications
JJ: The might of the blues will once again shine through. "The series" - blues 3-0, why you ask? Beacuse we are in the fourth year of a NSW dynasty. "The pack" - too big too strong and too fast (although not a bad QLD backline). Both teams are missing some big name, big game players, but the experience and dedication of the mighty blues pack will bring the boys home. Score blues (of course) 22-10.
Donnie: QLD are certainties to win the origin series this year. They may not have the most experienced team on the paddock but what they lack in experience they will make up for in guts, determination and pride. NSW will be cocky and missing the magic of Andrew Johns. The maroons will be hungrier for the win than NSW and just like Greeky infront of a steak lunch, the Queenslanders will be giving nothing away. Great to see 4 cowboys players in the team, with Matty Bowen to score the first try. The only doubtful player for QLD will be Steve Menzies, as i can see him being benched after the first 20 minutes. QLD to win 28-12.
Quinny: The QLD forward pack really has to stand up and roll forward early, petro has to lead from the front because whichever pack gets the early roll on will win game 1. On paper QLD has the form side and they also have the best halves combination. Personally i think Berrigan and Tate were lucky to be there. All in all QLD will win by 14 points and Cameron Smith will be the player of the match. Go the Maroons!
Marko: NSW to win of course. QLD seem to be pretty strong in the backs but i think NSW will bomb the shit out of Bowen. Then again the coach might not want to show up any weakness his club side has. Anyway i think they have both picked the best teams available to each state. My opinion is that NSW will be too strong in the forward battle and too big and fast in the backs and will run out winners by 12-14 points. Go the big Beaver!!
Mezza: The two sides picked for this year's series opener look extremely well matched in my view and should provide another brillant three game series. NSW have gone for mobility and reliability in their side with speed on the wings and big forwards to make the meters. The selection of Braith Anasta as no 6 in my view is questionable, personally i would have gone with Kurt Gidley. QLD have gone for a young side with new coach Mal Meninga delivering on his promise to inject some new blood into the maroons squad while the key psoitions 1,6,7 & 9 of Bowen, Lockyer, Thurston and Smith provide real match winners. I can safely (but modestly) predict a QLD win for game 1 in a low scoring contest, possibly 14 -6 to the mighty maroons. Go QLD!!!!!!
